Green River and New Fork River

Wyoming’s Green and New Fork rivers are hidden gems in the fly fishing world. You will find some of the West’s largest Brown and Rainbow trout on these waters, as well as a growing population of feisty native Cutthroats. Best of all, these rivers are some of the least congested you will find in the Rocky Mountain West. It is not uncommon to find only a couple other boats on your section during a day’s fishing. On some days, your boat may be the only one on a particular reach of water! The Green and the New Fork drain the western side of the stunning Wind River Range. These mountains are always within view from the streams. Both rivers flow through Bureau of Land Management (BLM) parcels and multi-generational ranch land. The sheer amount of open range is truly breathtaking.

Almost all of the fishing on the Green and New Fork rivers is performed from a drift boat. One enjoyable feature of these rivers is their reliability for numbers and size no matter what type of tackle the angler wishes to use, be it small dry flies, large dry flies, nymphs or streamers. The Green and the New Fork offer something for everyone.
